The Movement Builders Awards are ALIGN: The Alliance for a Greater New York’s annual fundraiser to support our work for clean air, green jobs, and dignity and justice for New York’s workers.
This year, workers are rising up to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and a just transition to a green future—and winning. Join us on October 11th to celebrate our movement’s power and the leaders who are making a difference. For the 2023 ALIGN Movement Builders Awards, we’re thrilled to be honoring:
- SAG-AFTRA and WGA East, who have shut down Hollywood, striking to protect their members’ livelihoods and win a fair contract in the face of a changing industry.
- Public Power NY coalition, who built the grassroots campaign that won the Build Public Renewables Act so New York can lead the nation in building publicly owned, 100% renewable energy while creating green, union jobs and making energy affordable for working families.
- Maritza Silva-Farrell, a long-time organizer—including a 12-year tenure at ALIGN, six of them as Executive Director—and current leader in the Ford Foundation’s Future of Work(ers) program, who has left an indelible mark on New York’s movements for worker and climate justice.

In order to be able to gather in person as safely as possible, ALIGN is requiring that all attendees of the 2023 Movement Builders Awards be fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will be required to gain entrance. If you will not be fully vaccinated, we invite you to make a donation to ALIGN. At the event, we will provide masks and hand sanitizer.
